Whether you are launching a new product or restocking your best seller, making sure you have considered all options before placing your next self-adhesive labels order can be crucial to your product and brand’s success.
With over 55 years of experience behind us, we know what makes the difference between a good label and a great label.
Some of the most important things to consider are:
1. Choosing the Right Material
First, Think about where your label will be used and the environmental factors that could affect its ability to look just as good at the end of its ‘working’ life as it did when it left you.
Is your label / packaging likely to be subjected to moisture, heat or refrigeration?
The material you choose (whether paper based, polypropylene or anything else) will have a big impact on your labels’ durability and long term visual appeal.
You might also prefer an eco-friendly option.
Choose from our ‘Cleanflake™’ material which has been designed for ease of recycling, our ‘Ocean Bound Plastic’ material made from recovered plastic that was at risk of ending up in the ocean, or you may prefer our sustainable ‘WoodFilm®’ or ‘Stone Paper’ label materials.
2. The Right Adhesive
From freezer grade to easy peel options, choosing the right adhesive ensures your label stays put (or will remove cleanly) whatever its ‘working’ life may be.
If you have not ordered before, or have maybe had problems with labels from other suppliers peeling off, our highly knowledgeable team can advise, and even send out samples of different materials for you to try.
3. The Right Coating or Finish
A ‘stand out’ finish does more than just make your products look good. It adds protection, functionality and even textures.
Think gloss or matt laminates, spot varnishes to pick out key design features, soft touch finishes for your luxury products, or even rough touch varnish to help grip a chilled bottle.
4. The Right Size and Shape Labels on the Right Diameter Core
Do you need the label to wrap completely around your packaging, or do you need pairs of high impact display labels for the front and simpler, information focused, labels for the back?
Do you need a large or peel & read labels to add regulatory or safety information? Or small ones to add a simple barcode or QR code?
Would a custom shape help your product stand out or reflect your brand elements?
Is the core size compatible with your application machinery?
All of these decisions can make a huge difference to your label’s shelf appeal, compliance and ease of use.
5. The Right Way Up
Are you applying your labels by hand or by machine? If it is the latter, then you will need to be sure that your labels are oriented correctly (either ‘wide edge’ or ‘narrow edge’ leading) so that they will be the right way up when run through your labelling machine.
