Mercian Labels are extremely proud to have been announced as Innovation Award Winners at this year’s prestigious Digital Labels & Packaging Awards, for our launch of the UK’s First 100% recyclable sustainable water based digitally printed paper flow-wrap packaging in partnership with SCREEN Europe and Sappi.
Fantastic recognition of our strength of ingenuity, with this being the second year in a row of winning this category, and with the trophies being awarded for two completely different innovations.
This latest product innovation combines the benefits of paper based packaging that does not need a traditional (fossil fuel based) polymer laminate to provide it’s barrier properties, with the waste reduction, speed and agility of digital printing, which utilises water based inks to maintain recyclability and food safety. Another first for the packaging industry and hopefully a complete game changer in the amount of packaging that can be easily recycled using the existing household waste recycling streams across the country.
